Government announces new Community Energy Fund to open in autumn

The South West Net Zero Hub welcomes the announcement from the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero of a new £10 million Community Energy Fund.

The Hub has been part of the call to secure this new funding to meet a clear need from the community energy sector to progress their projects as part of a just net zero transition.

This new Community Energy Fund builds on the success of the former Rural Communities Energy Fund, expanding to include both rural and urban areas.

We are working closely with the other Net Zero Hubs across the country to develop the guidance for this new fund, and expect it to open in the early Autumn for applications. At that point we will actively engage with those eligible for the funding to promote the opportunity and support applications.

Organisations are encouraged to get in touch with the Hub to discuss potential projects in the run up to the opening the scheme: swnetzerohub.org.uk/contact-us/

For examples of community energy projects that the Hub has supported in the South West visit our Rural Community Energy Fund (RCEF) page.
