Strong community interest in green energy projects

More than forty people attended a workshop in the New Forest this February to learn how to apply for funding for community energy projects.

Feasibility funding of up to £40,000 is available to help communities in rural areas develop green energy projects, with further grants of up to £100,000 available to those which show a high chance of success.

The event on 13 February was hosted in Lyndhurst by the South West Energy Hub, Solent Local Enterprise Partnership and New Forest District Council. Participants received advice on funding applications as well as hearing a case study about a successful local energy project. There was also the opportunity to ask questions: read some of the answers here.

The deadline for the next round of funding is 14 September 2020. Find out more about how to apply. Further community workshops are planned across the South West in future: watch this space for details.
