The Government has announced an investment of £630 million to decarbonise and improve the energy efficiency of schools, universities, community centres and other public sector buildings. This includes funding for 25 organisations across the wider South West who have been awarded over £30 million from the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme.
Many of the successful applications were supported by the Hub’s Public Sector Decarbonisation team including: Devon County Council, Exeter College, Fareham Borough Council, Bath and North East Somerset Council, Cornwall Council, Plymouth City Council and University of Exeter.
Fareham Borough Council said: “The South West Net Zero Hub, provided us with detailed guidance throughout the whole PSDS application process, from advising on the most competitive and deliverable projects to submit, sense checking the modelling assumptions of both officers and consultants, through to helping us shape the final application to ensure we had a competitive submission. Their support was key in our successful bid.“
Devon County Council said: “We were delighted to be awarded a grant from the PSDS4, which will mean we can decarbonise the heating at another 3 of our buildings. Navigating the stringent application process, was made so much easier with the expertise and support of the Net Zero Hub.“
